Annual PPS Clothing Center Drive - Feb 22 to March 8

BCS is collecting donations of NEW socks, underwear, gloves and winter hats - sizes 4T to adult - to benefit the PPS Clothing Center. More than 2,000 students in need across the district turn to the Clothing Center every year, and every year the BCS community steps up to ensure that the Clothing Center can provide new socks, hats, gloves and underwear to every student who visits.

All donations are appreciated, but this year the Center reports a particular need for these items:
*Boys and Men’s Knit Boxers (preferred over briefs)

*Teen boy socks sizes 3-9 and 6-12, ankle/low cut style

*Women’s bikini & hipster style underwear (particularly size 5)

*Gloves

Collection bins will be located near the main offices at Fernwood, as well as outside the main doors of the building Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. or send your order straight from our Amazon Wish List. 

We LOVE a challenge at BCS, and the PTA is challenging the BCS students to beat their generosity from past years. If the BCS community collectively donates at least 2,400 pairs of socks, underwear, gloves and hats, students will be able to celebrate with a popsicle party in the spring!

After School Garden Work Party *NEW*

This month we'll be focused on cleaning and organizing the shed so we are ready to go when spring arrives! We'll also tackle some small tool repairs and need help moving the dirt pile behind the shed in preparation for creating an outdoor educational space. We love for students to join us, but also need adult hands for some of the heavier lifting.  Rain or shine, we plan to dig in the dirt. Please wear appropriate shoes.

Interested in learning more about 2023 PAT bargaining? *NEW*

The Portland Association of Teachers has begun bargaining with Portland Public Schools.  The BCS PAT members would like parents to understand the PAT bargaining platform, and our PAT representatives have offered to hold a Q&A session with parents.  If you are interested in learning more about how parents can support teachers in the bargaining process, or want to ask questions about the bargaining platform, please email president@beverlyclearyschool.org.  We'll schedule a zoom meeting based on community interest.
