Hello Beverly Cleary families,

Wow, what a Spookarama!  We are so happy that we could bring this event back to the community after a two-year hiatus.  We hope you had fun.  This Spookarama was intentionally planned as a community-building event with no barrier to access.  If you wish to help offset some of the costs of the event, please visit the Spookarama donation page.  A huge thank you to ALL the Spookarama volunteers and the following folks who worked tirelessly to breathe life back into this old monster:  Kelsi Roberts, JoLynn Holton, Natasha Stanley, Marie Westom, Dee Butler, Korwren Peterson, Sue Malin, Madeline Welch, Edmund Ley, Ned Damon, and Andrea Alejandrino.  If you see them buy them a coffee!  Thanks to all of you for helping to knit the BCS community back together.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

This Wednesday: 2nd Annual BCS Student-directed One Act Festival!

Presented by the BCS Theatre Program.  Admission is free but a $5.00 donation is suggested to benefit the theatre program.  Three one-act productions will be presented.  There is something in the festival for all ages!  Check here to read the descriptions of each.  A huge thanks to Mr. Tabshy for helping our middle school students bring these productions to the stage.

Join us after school for a Garden Work Party!
Thursday, November 10th, 3:15-5:15pm.  Sign up here.

Do you know what a hugelkultur is? Come learn about mounded garden beds built with logs, plant debris, and compost. In the coming weeks we'll start to gather materials (hint: start to save your eggshells and coffee grinds!). It's our goal to get this in place so the mound can overwinter and be ready for planting in the spring!

Rain or shine, we plan to dig in the dirt. Please wear appropriate shoes.

We'll have some snacks to keep the after-school munchies at bay, shelter to keep things dry if it rains, and a little music to keep it fun! We love for little hands to help, but also need adult hands for some of the heavier lifting.

Interested in volunteering during your child's garden class?
Grow Portland welcomes volunteers to help out during monthly class times (1-2 volunteers per class). Typically classes are held on Thursdays. Check out how to sign up here.

See you there. Let's grow together!
