FUNDRAISING

Donate to the FUN RUN by Friday, May 16

498 BCS students ran 4,009 laps (1,002.25 miles) this past Friday at our annual Fun Run.

Fun Run donations are still coming in and we have until May 16 to meet our fundraising goal!

This year's goal is to raise $35,000 to support the PTA's operational budget: funding beloved community events such as Spook-a-rama and the art show, direct support of teachers and staff through classroom grants, artist-in-residence programming, and more.

To learn all about the Fun Run, please read the Info Letter and check out our website.

BCS Student Play

"She Kills Monsters: Young Adventurers Edition"

Show dates: May 8th, & 9th @ 6:00 PM

Tickets are $10

This show is recommended for 5th grade and older. It features mild language and some mature themes (bullying, death, homophobia, fantastical violence, and monsters with scary masks). A comedic romp into the world of fantasy role-playing games, She Kills Monsters tells the story of high schooler Agnes Evans as she deals with the death of her sister, Tilly Evans. When Agnes stumbles upon Tilly's Dungeons & Dragons notebook, she finds herself catapulted into a journey of discovery and action-packed adventure in the imaginary world that was her sister's refuge. In this high-octane dramatic comedy laden with homicidal faeries, nasty ogres, and 90s pop culture, acclaimed playwright Qui Nguyen offers a heart pounding homage to the geek and warrior within us all.

Thank You - Community Cares Day

Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate Earth Day by working to beautify the school grounds during our spring Community Cares day.

Many hands made light work, and we were able to:

-Pick up trash

-Fertilize the blueberry bushes

-Sweep and blow up dead leaves and debris from the sidewalks

-Trim back overgrown bushes and trees

-Pull up weeds

The grounds are looking neat and spiffy. We noticed a big difference this year with less trash on the grounds, thanks to teacher and student led initiatives. Thank you again for everyone's hard work. We'll hold another Community Cares day in late summer. See you then!

Thank You - Scott School Food Drive

Thank you to all who donated funds for Scott School to supplement their weekend food program that had been cut. Due to your generosity, we were able to purchase $500 worth of food. Special thanks to BCS parent Becky Brandt for coordinating the purchase and delivery of the food.

Ridwell Plastic Film Drive

This week BCS's Green Team is teaming up with Ridwell to host a Plastic Film Drive and celebrate Earth Week. Please bring clean dry plastic film (ziptop bags, grocery bags, bubble wrap, and lots more) to school and drop in the Ridwell labeled bins at either the front or back entrance.

Ridwell will make sure it stays out of landfills by working with Trex who turns it into new decking materials instead! Let's see how much plastic we can repurpose!

In addition, BCS will earn a free pickup of the school’s plastic film for all of the ‘25/’26 school year if we get 10 new members to sign up for Ridwell by May 23rd at the BCS site.

Ridwell collects hundreds of common household items you can’t recycle curbside, like plastic food packaging, lightbulbs, clothes, Styrofoam, and more. It is a great way to be more environmentally friendly. Pro Tip: You may be able to reduce your garbage bin size to offset the cost!
