Volunteer Opportunities
Thanks for your interest in volunteering. Please note that for most events (unless otherwise noted) volunteers must have a completed background check and should sign in at the office. Background checks must be resubmitted every three years.
Our team would greatly appreciate if every parent in our community filled out our volunteer interest form.

Spookarama Team (Multiple)
SIGN UP for Carnival + Treat Trot SIGN UP for Middle School Night
- Project Management Lead: This is the last year for our lead, and we'd love to have someone shadow for a smooth transition next year!
- Haunted House Lead *** CRITICAL NEED! ***
Timing: It's crunch time! We have one last group meeting October 23 to event prep, otherwise email updates can be shared, and we can connect along the way by phone/in person for other specific support.
Best fit for: Anyone! We have all kinds of needs for this flagship event. If you’re interested, we can use you!
Who can help you? Any member of the Spookarama planning team - it’s a fun bunch!
Volunteer Coordinator
Timing: On your schedule!
What you'll do: Help to identify volunteers, in partnership with the board and event leads, to fill roles. Post needs in our website, newsletter and on Facebook, work closely with event leads, help direct new volunteers.
Best fit for: Someone who likes people and enjoys talking with them and encouraging participation.
Who can help you? Our previous volunteer coordinator would be happy to help with the transition, and our membership chair will work with you closely.
Garden Lead
Timing: On your schedule, with some weekend events
What you'll do: Help oversee the health of our school garden by directing volunteers on community cares days, overseeing the summer watering schedule, and planning and supporting any other specific projects.
Best fit for: Someone who knows what they're doing in a garden and can direct eager (but potentially novice) help.
Who can help you? Our previous garden lead would be happy to help with the transition.
Fundraising Exploratory Project Lead
Our fundraising chair is looking for someone willing to research the cost and scope of adding an undercover option as well as organizing a parent focused fundraiser earmarked for that goal in Jan/Feb sometime. This isn’t secured in the budget yet, but having someone take the lead is a key first step!
Advocacy Lead
Timing: On your schedule, potential to engage with the state and broader PTA
What you'll do: Help our BCS PTA engage more in advocacy work for our school and students.
Who can help you? While this has been a longstanding goal for our PTA, we need more focus, skills, and attention here. Make this your own, with support and partnership from the board.
Room Parent Coordinator
Timing: On your schedule and as needed, desire for PTA meeting attendance when possible
What you'll do: Serve as a liaison between the PTA and a cohort of parent volunteers who each represent a specific classroom (K-5) or grade level (6th-8th). The coordinator’s main responsibility is to manage communications and support parent volunteers so they can in turn support teacher(s) and coordinate school-wide efforts with families in their respective class/grade. We encourage you to attend PTA meetings to report on classroom activities, bubble up concerns on behalf of room/grade parents, and gather information needed for drafting communications.
Best fit for: Someone who likes people and enjoys talking with them and encouraging participation, and is comfortable with written communication.
Who can help you? Our previous room parent coordinator would be happy to help with the transition, and our communications chair will work with you closely.
Staff Appreciation Lead
We are seeking a lead for Staff Appreciation activities this year. Are you creative and organized? Do you have a couple of hours a month to take the lead on a Conference Night potluck, Stock the Staff Room treat weeks, and Teacher/Staff appreciation week in May? We already have a plan for the year and need someone to execute the details with a team of other volunteer. Email edsupport@beverlyclearyschool.org if interested.
The sign up forms on our site (not sign-up genius!) will ask you to login before you can sign up. If you are new to our school or haven't signed into the portal before, click here to learn how to create an account.
