Volunteer Opportunities

Thanks for your interest in volunteering. Please note that for most events (unless otherwise noted) volunteers must have a completed background check and should sign in at the office. Background checks must be resubmitted every three years.

Please know that by signing up to volunteer, you are agreeing to our PTA Code of Conduct.

We will be adding volunteer opportunities to this page throughout the year. Please reach out to Volunteer Chair Edward Damon (volunteer@beverlyclearyschool.org)   if you are interested in being on our active volunteer list. 

 

Current Opportunities

Community Care Day - Spring Date!

Saturday, May 6, 2023 9:00am - 12:00pm

Volunteers come together to complete tasks from weeding, to picking up litter, to spreading mulch around flower beds. Together we can grow a sense of community and school stewardship. More info here.

Teacher Appreciation Committee (2023):

The teacher appreciation committee plans and executes small events and activities to celebrate and show appreciation for our teachers throughout the year. A larger event is planned for Teacher Appreciation Week in May.

Crossing Guards (2023):

If you'd like to be a crossing guard for students coming to and/or from school, we'd love to have you!

Past Opportunities

Sock and Underwear Drive Celebration (April 28th, Lunch)

We're celebrating our successful sock and underwear drive by giving out popsicles. 

School Garden Work Parties (March 16, After School)

We invite you to join us for volunteer-led work parties where you can lend a hand in the garden, socialize with the BCS community, and enjoy being outdoors. If you're interested in leading a party, reach out to garden@beverlyclearyschool.org

Neurodiversity/All Ability Week (March 15th-16th)

Help recognize students of all abilities and their contributions to the Beverly Cleary Community. 

PPS Clothing Closet (Apr 6th, 2023):

Volunteer to help get clothing to families in need. Takes place at Marshall (Benson HS) campus from 9:30-1:30. 

Lunch Volunteers (Weekdays)

Help out students during lunch and lunch recess. A good way to get to see your kids "in the wild"

Theater Volunteers (Spring)

Help Mr. Tabshy with costumes, set construction, and publicity for the Spring production of Clue.

February Middle School Dance (February 16th 5:30-8:00 pm)

Help Middle School Students to dance the night away. 

Ruby Bridges Day (November 14, Before School)

Join us as we continue our journey to fight racism and all forms of bullying on November 14, 2022.

Spookarama (Oct 28th, 2022):

A frightfully good time for all BCS students and parents as the Fernwood Campus is transformed into a haunted house full of candy, games, and other activities.

BCS Fun Run (Sept 28th, 2022):

The Fun Run will be held on September 28th and will offer many opportunities to get involved! From working at the event to helping distribute prizes, there are a variety of volunteer jobs. We will need all hands on deck to produce a memorable community event that also generates funds to support the PTA’s outreach and initiatives this year.

Ice Cream Social (Sept 8, 2022 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM)

Help kick off the BCS PTA the right way, with ice cream! Families old and new gather together to celebrate the community, learn about how to be involved with the PTA, and enjoy ice cream.

Community Care Day (Aug 27, 2022 9:00 AM - Noon)

Project Community Care is an annual PPS tradition and a wonderful opportunity to help beautify our school grounds at the start of the school year. Volunteers assist with outdoor projects, such as weeding and spreading mulch. Community Cares Day will take place on Saturday, August 27th 2021 from 9am-Noon at Fernwood (NO BACKGROUND CHECK REQUIRED.)
