A Message from the PTA Fundraising Chair *NEW*

The BCS PTA supports many of our beloved community activities including: after school enrichment scholarships, Teacher grants, Ice cream social, Spookorama, OBOB, Teacher appreciation events, 8th graduation and so much more! We have big plans this year to refresh and innovate in order to continue to support our wonderful BCS community with energy and fun. Please consider helping us FUNdraise by participating in one or all of these opportunities:

• Direct Donation - $100 per child would cover our 24/25 fundraising goal
• Corporate Match - check with your employer about match programs
• Become a PTA Member - $25 to join and/or lend your voice to PTA meetings
• Monthly Dine Out Opportunities - Tuesday Sept. 10 @ Sparky's Pizza; Tuesday Oct. 15 @ Steeplejack
• Bottle Drop and Merchant Programs - See Bottle Drop or Fred Meyer Rewards & Powell's Purchases for more info
• Fun Run Participation - Switching things up this year to allow for more ramp up time; our beloved Fun Run fundraiser will be in the spring - Friday May 2
• Caregiver Night Out - We are seeking a lead(s) to research, plan and organize a parents focused fundraiser. Help us decide what we should work towards funding.
• Lastly, although fundraising is critical to making our PTA programing happen, a monetary donation is not the only way you can participate. Please consider supporting us by volunteering and/or sharing your ideas. Don't hesitate to reach out!

Ice Cream Social - Sept 12 *RESCHEDULED*

Join your fellow BCS families at our annual Ice Cream Social, at the playground behind Fernwood at NE 33rd and Hancock. The PTA will be serving chocolate and vanilla ice cream along with dairy free vanilla ice cream. Toppings will be fudge sauce, sprinkles, and whip cream! For those with sensory processing challenges or who have a hard time waiting in line, we will have otter pops available at a separate table with a pink balloon. Just a heads up for parents there is usually a big turn out for this event so expect lots of families, lots of noise and lots of sticky faces! ALSO, KIDS MUST HAVE A PARENT PRESENT AT THIS EVENT!

General PTA Meeting: Monday, 9/9/2, 7pm *REMINDER*

The first PTA General Meeting will be held in the school library (or via Zoom) on Monday, 9/9. All community members are invited to join! Check out the Meeting Agenda to see what will be discussed this month.

Sparky's Pizza Fundraiser Night *REMINDER*

Sparky's Pizza is hosting a fundraiser to benefit the BCS PTA on Tuesday, September 10th! 10% of the total sales from all three Sparky’s Portland locations will be donated to the PTA. Take a break from cooking and support PTA!

Spookarama: Seeking Volunteers *NEW*

Now seeking volunteers for Spookarama. The Planning Committee kick-off meeting is Wednesday, September 11 from 7:30pm to 9:00pm at Kelsi Robert's house. If you can't join, you can still help with this event. Contact spookarama@beverlyclearyschool.org or Text Kelsi at 817-575-9930 to join! We need help with: Security, Quiet Room, Treat Trot, Haunted House & Event Volunteer Coordination.

After-School Enrichments *REMINDER*

BCS fall after-school classes are open for registration! They include arts, languages, music, movement, Lego and more. Scholarships are available.

PTA Clothing Center Volunteer Opportunity: Monday, 9/30, 9:30 am to 1:30pm *REMINDER*

Each PPS school PTA is responsible for sending volunteers two times during the school year to assist students in receiving clothing and shoes. Beverly Cleary's day is coming up and we need 5-6 volunteers to help kids receive clothing and to help sort donations. Volunteers can be parents, grandparents or community members. The PTA Clothing Center is a district wide service that provides a space for PPS families to shop for their students. This past school year, we assisted nearly 1,400 PPS Students! And logged over 2,800 volunteer hours. Email bridgetmschum@gmail.com  to volunteer.

Spookarama Toy Drive! *NEW*

In an effort to keep plastic waste at a minimum, we are collecting your small toys -- leftover party favors, stickers and tattoos, gumball machine trinkets, etc. -- to give them a second life as Spookarama game prizes! Please keep donations small, under 2 square inches. Donation box is in the office!

BCS Bike Bus Every Wednesday *REMINDER*

Beverly Cleary School is has a bike bus! Beverly Cleary School students (and their adults) are invited to “get on the bus” and enjoy an active, social way of getting to school every Wednesday. See the link below for meet-up times and locations. Participants can also join the Bike Bus from any location along the route.
