ANNOUNCEMENTS

A messge from the PTA Treasurer *NEW*

We had a great first in-person PTA meeting on September 9th, and we reviewed and passed the FY24-25 Budget. It was encouraging to see so many show up and ask questions - the involvement and care about how we manage our funding and apply it thoughtfully is always welcome. As Treasurer, I am the one to contact about approved reimbursements. Please make sure that any expenditures are in line with the budget (your PTA board member or program lead will help you determine this), then all you need to do is fill out a Reimbursement Form, and send this to me with your receipts. I prefer digital copies, but if you need to get paper copies for me we can do that too. I will process the Reimbursement promptly and get you a check in the mail. Yes, paper checks - they still exist! Looking forward to working with the BCS community this year and helping keep all these amazing programs running smoothly.

PTA Clothing Center Volunteer Opportunity: Monday, 9/30, 9:30 am to 1:30pm *REMINDER*

Each PPS school PTA is responsible for sending volunteers two times during the school year to assist students in receiving clothing and shoes. Beverly Cleary's day is coming up and we need 5-6 volunteers to help kids receive clothing and to help sort donations. Volunteers can be parents, grandparents or community members. The PTA Clothing Center is a district wide service that provides a space for PPS families to shop for their students. This past school year, we assisted nearly 1,400 PPS Students! And logged over 2,800 volunteer hours. Email bridgetmschum@gmail.com to volunteer.

PTA Meeting Update *NEW*

Thank you to all who attended the first PTA meeting this week. It was great seeing so many new and returning faces! While this was a business-focus meeting, we aim to feature special guests or presentations at future meetings. Stay tuned! Also, I'd like to apologize for the poor quality of the Zoom. Next time we will have a single person dedicated to running the virtual component. That said, we are also hindered by the lack of conferencing tools available at school, making us rely on a simple laptop. Additional tools may require the PTA to make a significant financial investment. Please contact me if you'd like to help us problem-solve.

Ice Cream Social - Thank you! *NEW*

Thank you to everyone who came out to the Ice Cream Social yesterday. We had a great turn out. It was wonderful seeing so many BCS families enjoying each other's company. A special thank you to Korwren Peterson for organizing the event, and to all the volunteers who helped with set-up, clean-up and scooping!

After-School Enrichments *REMINDER*

BCS fall after-school classes are open for registration! They include arts, languages, music, movement, Lego and more. Scholarships are available.

Spookarama Toy Drive! *NEW* 

In an effort to keep plastic waste at a minimum, we are collecting your small toys -- leftover party favors, stickers and tattoos, gumball machine trinkets, etc. -- to give them a second life as Spookarama game prizes! Please keep donations small, under 2 square inches. Donation box is in the office!

BCS Bike Bus Every Wednesday *REMINDER*

Beverly Cleary School is has a bike bus! Beverly Cleary School students (and their adults) are invited to “get on the bus” and enjoy an active, social way of getting to school every Wednesday. See the link below for meet-up times and locations. Participants can also join the Bike Bus from any location along the route.
