Photo Day Volunteers
*VOLUNTEERS NEEDED*

We’re looking for three volunteers to help with Picture Day on Thursday, September 25th, in the West Gym. This is the best way to make sure your kiddo's post-PE flyaways get tamed before the camera clicks.

Teacher Grant Committee
*VOLUNTEERS NEEDED*

Join the BCS PTA grant committee and help support teacher-led projects that promote equity, health, and safety in our classrooms. Volunteers review grant applications three to four times a year, spending 30 minutes per meeting on a flexible schedule, to make a meaningful impact on students’ learning experiences. Committee members must be General PTA members.

OBOB Update

We are excited to announce that we have identified a 2026 OBOB lead! OBOB is a beloved tradition at BCS, supporting literacy and promoting a love of reading. Groups of students form a team, read books, and socialize. The event culminates with book trivia battles at a school tournament, likely in late February 2026.

Keep an eye out for a signup link in the next couple of weeks. Students register as individuals, but will be able to identify requested teammates. Please keep in mind that coaches and event-day volunteers will be needed in order to make the event possible.

PTA & PAT Family Playdate
*SAVE THE DATE*

On October 2, join us right after the dismissal bell for a fun, family-friendly playdate with PTA and PAT (Portland Association of Teachers) leaders. This is a great opportunity to ask questions, connect with leaders, and share your thoughts. PAT will provide popsicles, snacks, bubbles, and games for everyone to enjoy. All families are welcome - see you on the playground!

Hi-Top Tavern Fundraiser
*SAVE THE DATE*

Skip the kitchen and join us at Hi-Top Tavern on Monday, October 14! From 5 pm until close, Hi-Top is donating 15% of all food, drinks, and even merchandise sales to the BCS PTA. Come hungry, bring friends, and support our school. Eevery bite (and sip!) makes a difference!

Blazers Night
*SAVE THE DATE*

Mark your calendars! Friday, February 6, is Trail Blazers Night! Join us for an exciting evening of basketball, community, and fun as the Blazers take on the Memphis Grizzlies. This special night is also a fundraiser for the BCS PTA, so every ticket purchased helps support our students and school community. More details, including ticket information, will be shared soon.

Staff Lounge Update

Thank you to the community members who worked hard over the summer to update the staff lounge adjacent to the cafetorium. They removed outdated and inconvenient furniture, added a new fridge, re-housed the after-care program equipment, and updated the decor, including a fresh coat of paint. The result is a welcoming and usable space for staff! Thank you to Korwren Peterson, Heather Peterson, Alex Katz, Laura Schwab, Brian & John Gustafson, James Ware, and a financial donor who wishes to remain anonymous for their contributions!

A Sweet Start to the Year

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Ice Cream Social! It was such a joy to see so many BCS families connecting and having fun together. A big shoutout to Korwren Peterson for organizing this sweet event, and to all the amazing PTA leaders who pitched in with setup, cleanup, and scooping. We couldn’t have done it without you!

Spookarama Volunteers

We’re looking for enthusiastic leads to help make this year’s Spookarama Carnival a success! Opportunities are available in the following areas:
