ANNOUNCEMENT

Heritage Night - February 27th: Sign-up Now!

The PTA is working alongside BCS parent, Dawn Isaacs, to kick off the inaugural Heritage Night. Heritage Night will be an opportunity to celebrate our community by sharing families' individual cultures and heritage, however that is meaningful to them. We all have a story to share!

Families/students may set up a "booth" with information about their family, display special artifacts, foods, music, etc. and/or sign up to do a demonstration of song/music or dance. There is no right or wrong way to participate!

Here are some ideas:

*Displaying a poster with information/pictures

*Teaching a song or dance

*Sharing a special food

*Creating a craft or sharing a piece of art

If you and your child would like to participate, please consider signing up--what a great way to build community and connect with one another. We all have a story to share!

Heritage Night will be held on February 27, 6:00 - 7:30 pm in the BCS Cafetorium. Please contact Marie Westom (president@beverlyclearyschool.org) or Dawn Isaacs (dawnmarieisaacs@gmail.com) if you have any questions.

UPDATES

OBOB 2025 & 2026 Update

Thank you to everyone for making OBOB 2025 a great success! We had 85 participants and 30+ volunteers as well as coaches, family, and community members show up to support our community of readers. We even kicked off the events with a good luck message from Congresswoman Maxine Dexter.

A huge congratulations to our winners - these teams will move on to the regional tournament that will take place at McDaniel High School on March 15. Our 3rd - 5th division winner was Mabel's Dog is Named Frances and is Secretly Rainbow Dash: Mabel Kindrick, Azella Florey, Libby McClendon, Quinn Ross, Eva Campbell, Rex Morris, and Emerson Loveless. Our 6th - 8th division winner was The 60-Year-Old Wombats from the San Diego Zoo, a 93-Year-Old Chicken from the San Francisco Zoo, and a 69-Year-Old Eagle from the Los Angeles Zoo: Geo Durocher, Quincy Lochmann, Quint Leathers, and Blaine Lawson. This is the team's third consecutive win in the BCS OBOB Tournament.

We are already thinking about OBOB 2026 - our current OBOB leads are ready to pass the baton so we are looking for new leadership for next year's event. There are great systems in place that we are happy to pass off. If you are interested please send an email to obob@beverlyclearyschool.org.

Raise the Roof Capital Campaign Update

The PTA held a fundraising event for adults in the BCS community at the People's Courts this past week. The event was a great success with fun games, a delicious dinner, and $6600 dollars raised for the Raise the Roof Capital Campaign. Thank you to Laura Schwab for putting on this event and to The People's Courts (BCS family-owned business) for hosting. It is not too late to help us elevate our playground by fundraising for an undercover play area. Follow the link to learn more!
