ANNOUNCEMENT

Heritage Night - This Thursday!

Come out and enjoy Heritage Night this Thursday, February 27, from 6:00 - 7:30 pm in the BCS Cafetorium. The entire BCS community is invited to attend.

The PTA is working alongside BCS parent, Dawn Isaacs, to kick off the inaugural Heritage Night. Heritage Night will be an opportunity to celebrate our community by sharing families' individual cultures and heritage, however that is meaningful to them. We all have a story to share!

Families/students can also set up a "booth" with information about their family, display special artifacts, foods, music, etc. and/or sign up to do a demonstration of song/music or dance. There is no right or wrong way to participate!

Please contact Marie Westom (president@beverlyclearyschool.org) or Dawn Isaacs (dawnmarieisaacs@gmail.com) if you have any questions.

Sign up here to host a booth.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Seeking PTA Nominating Committee Members

Help identify next year’s PTA board nominees through this essential committee. Committee members can work at their convenience to build the slate and must be PTA members this year.

What you’ll do:

  1. Contact current board members to confirm interest in returning

  2. Talk to the community and work with the committee to identify nominees

  3. Submit the slate to the PTA meeting

What you don’t need to do:

  1. Commit to being on the board yourself (unless you want to)

Reach out to Kelsi Roberts, membership@beverlyclearyschool.org, to learn more or to volunteer.

BCS PTA Welcome Crew Needs You

This year, we’ve seen some new faces around BCS, many joining post kindergarten. Some of our new families are now members of the PTA and have shared how hard it can be to feel connected in the beginning. We believe there is a need to identify families to serve as a touchstone for incoming families outside of kindergarten.

Could you join our Welcome Crew? Email membership@beverlyclearyschool.org to confirm your interest.

Welcome Crew may be matched with a new family, and asked to:

  • Say hello and share your contact info
  • Offer helpful tips
  • Plan to meet in person at pick up / drop off or other
  • Plan to meet up at the first BCS event so friendly faces are present
  • Answer/redirect questions

As part of bringing new families into our community, we are also so fortunate to have so many amazing languages represented (Currently 11)!

Do you have a working knowledge of languages other than English, and would you be willing to use those skills to help include families new to BCS? If so, let us know! This year at BCS, we have 11 different primary languages spoken at home: Dutch/Flemish, Afrikaans, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Telugu, Thai, Turkish, Vietnamese, and English

Thank you for helping to welcome new faces to BCS!

Volunteer with the PTA Clothing Center

Thursday, April 3rd is Beverly Cleary's day to send 5-6 volunteers to the PTA Clothing Center at Marshall Campus. We need volunteers to represent our BCS community from from 9:30am -1:30pm. Volunteers will help PPS students receive clothing, and help sort donations. Volunteers can be any BCS adult community members including parents and grandparents.

Each PPS school is responsible for sending volunteers two times during the school year to assist students in receiving clothing and shoes.

We are excited to be able to have families come to shop for their students. This past school year, we assisted nearly 1,400 PPS Students! And logged over 2,800 volunteer hours.

Please email communications@beverlyclearyschool.org to volunteer.

OBOB 2026

We are already thinking about OBOB 2026 - our current OBOB leads are ready to pass the baton so we are looking for new leadership for next year's event. There are great systems in place that we are happy to pass off. If you are interested please send an email to obob@beverlyclearyschool.org.

Help Capture the Memories – Join the Yearbook Team!

Join together as a team with staff in creating a keepsake that students will treasure for years to come. No experience? No problem! There is a guide, Josten's rep, and a meeting with former advisors to hand over all the tips and tricks. Interested? Email Liz Kobs, lkobs@pps.net, to learn more.
