ANNOUNCEMENTS
General PTA Meeting: Monday, November 18 at 7pm *NEW*
The next PTA General Meeting will be held in the school library (or via Zoom) on Monday, November 18 from 7pm to 8:30pm. All community members are invited to join! Check out the Meeting Agenda to see what will be discussed this month.
Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day: Thursday, November 14 *NEW*
Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day (RBWTSD) is the perfect opportunity to teach children about the civil rights movement and make connections to today’s collective efforts for change. RBWTSD gives children the chance to celebrate Ruby’s courage by walking to school. This year RBWTSD will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2024. The BCS PTA is encouraging all BCS students to participate. Go to our PTA website to learn more about how this day got started and to watch learn more about Ruby Bridges' Story.
OBOB: Last Call - Register by November 15! *NEW*
Now is the time for interested 3rd-8th graders to register for OBOB! To promote inclusivity and allow more students to participate, you will only need to register your interested student this year. As in the past, you can submit names of other students that your student is interested in competing with, however, students can sign up this year without first finding a team. While teammate requests cannot be guaranteed, the BCS OBOB Planning Team will work hard to ensure that all students are matched with their requested teammates and that prior-year teams remain intact. Why are we so excited about this change? It will take the pressure off of parents and students to find others to make a team before registration - there may be an interested friend you didn’t know was interested! It will be an easy way for groups of four to identify someone interested in filling the coveted fifth spot. Most importantly, while we cannot guarantee, we hope that this will allow all interested students to participate in the BCS 2025 OBOB Tournament. Note: All participating students must be registered via this survey by a parent or guardian by November 15, 2024. Once formed, each team must identify its own volunteer coach. A member of the OBOB Planning Committee will be by the basketball hoops at drop off and pick up on Wednesday, November 6 to answer questions that any student or grown-up may have. In the meantime, visit our website for more information or email obob@beverlyclearyschool.org with any questions.
Bottle Drop: Holiday Give *NEW*
SO very impressed with our community - we have recycled $2630.00 toward our Bottle Drop goal for the 2024/25 school year. BottleDrop Oregon is continuing their tradition of “Holiday Give” - this is an excellent way to squeeze out just a bit more $$$ out of those can and bottle returns. All Blue Bags dropped off between November 15th and December 2nd will earn BCS 20% more than usual…that could be a $2.00 bonus per bag! If you have a favorite local business (restaurant, bar, gym, orthodontist, dentist etc) that you can convince to fill even one bag just this one time…now would be an excellent time to turn on the charm. As incentive to get those bags in - I will bring your full blue bags in to the recycle bins myself - easy peasy. Please email me at bottledrop@beverlyclearyschool.org and we can schedule a pick up. Contact Christina Kirby via the email above with any questions - thank you again for your support!

BCS Annual Book Drive: Happening Now! *REMINDER*
Get ready to clear out your kids’ bookshelves, because we are hosting a book drive for the Children’s Book Bank at SMART Reading in order to provide book bundles to thousands of local preschool and Head Start students! From Monday, November 4 until Tuesday, November 26, boxes for book donations will be located in the front entrance lobby. Bring your new and gently used children's books for donation and give them a new life with another child or family. The Children’s Book Bank is currently accepting board books and picture books for young students (no more than a paragraph of text per page). Not accepted are chapter books, books for high-schoolers/adults, damaged/musty books, scribbled in books, coloring books, activity books, text books, encyclopedias, or ex-library books.
Join the PTA Parent Portal *REMINDER*

An account will give you: access to and inclusion in the school directory, access to volunteer sign up forms, and configuration of your student(s) fundraising pages for the upcoming Fun Run Joining the PTA is optional after this, but we welcome that too! Questions? Reach out to webmaster@beverlyclearyschool.org Thank you!
Seeking Staff Appreciation Lead *REMINDER*
We are seeking a lead for Staff Appreciation activities this year. Are you creative and organized? Do you have a couple of hours a month to take the lead on a Conference Night potluck, Stock the Staff Room treat weeks, and Teacher/Staff appreciation week in May? We already have a plan for the year and need someone to execute the details with a team of other volunteer. Email edsupport@beverlyclearyschool.org if interested.
