ANNOUNCEMENTS
OBOB: Register Now! *NEW*
Now is the time for interested 3rd-8th graders to register for OBOB! To promote inclusivity and allow more students to participate, you will only need to register your interested student this year. As in the past, you can submit names of other students that your student is interested in competing with, however, students can sign up this year without first finding a team. While teammate requests cannot be guaranteed, the BCS OBOB Planning Team will work hard to ensure that all students are matched with their requested teammates and that prior-year teams remain intact. Why are we so excited about this change? It will take the pressure off of parents and students to find others to make a team before registration - there may be an interested friend you didn’t know was interested! It will be an easy way for groups of four to identify someone interested in filling the coveted fifth spot. Most importantly, while we cannot guarantee, we hope that this will allow all interested students to participate in the BCS 2025 OBOB Tournament. Note: All participating students must be registered via this survey by a parent or guardian by November 15, 2024. Once formed, each team must identify its own volunteer coach. A member of the OBOB Planning Committee will be by the basketball hoops at drop off and pick up on Wednesday, November 6 to answer questions that any student or grown-up may have. In the meantime, visit the link below for more information or email obob@beverlyclearyschool.org with any questions.
BCS Book Harvest: Annual Book Drive *NEW*
Get ready to clear out your kids’ bookshelves, because we are hosting a book drive for the Children’s Book Bank at SMART Reading in order to provide book bundles to thousands of local preschool and Head Start students! From Monday, November 4 until Tuesday, November 26, boxes for book donations will be located in the front entrance lobby. Bring your new and gently used children's books for donation and give them a new life with another child or family. The Children’s Book Bank is currently accepting board books and picture books for young students (no more than a paragraph of text per page). Not accepted are chapter books, books for high-schoolers/adults, damaged/musty books, scribbled in books, coloring books, activity books, text books, encyclopedias, or ex-library books.
Teacher Grants *NEW*
The PTA Teacher Grants committee met this week to approve the first round of grant proposals. Teachers thoughtfully consider what our children need to be their best selves and request funding to fill that need. In this round, requests ranged from OBOB book purchasing to classroom support materials to sensory regulation tools for use across the building among many other offerings. Your membership support and donations fund $10,000 per year to purchase these items for our teachers and support staff to use across grade levels and over many years. We couldn't support them without you. If you would like to join the committee, email grants@beverlyclearyschool.org.

Steeplejack Brewing Fundraiser Update *NEW*
The BCS PTA and Steeplejack Brewing wants to take a moment to thank those who attended Tuesday's restaurant fundraiser night. It has been brought to our attention that your dining experience may have been less than stellar. Firstly, I would like to sincerely apologize for the miscommunication that occurred in the planning and logistics of the event. Steeplejack has two locations and we (BCS) mistakenly were added to their SW location event calendar. The NE location was not expecting our group and we surprised the staff when our group showed up. We understand the importance of clear communication and proper coordination. Unfortunately, we fell short in this instance, and wanted to take a moment to apologize. We truly value the support of our community, and it is disheartening to hear that some of you may have had a less than satisfactory experience. Please know that Steeplejack appreciates your regular patronage and is committed to providing the best service possible. They are dedicated to ensuring that your future dining needs and donation nights are enjoyable and successful. Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
Seeking Staff Appreciation Lead *REMINDER*

We already have a plan for the year and need someone to execute the details with a team of other volunteer. Email edsupport@beverlyclearyschool.org if interested.
