ANNOUNCEMENTS

Spookarama 2024 *NEW*

This year, we’re excited to unveil a reimagined Spookarama weekend, which offers a K-5 Spookarama Carnival on Friday, October 25 and a Middle School Spookarama Party on Saturday, October 26. You can expect familiar favorites, like frighteningly fabulous decorations, the Treat Trot, and carnival style games at both events. And, you can also look forward to age-group focused events, like face painting at the carnival and a dance floor at the Middle School party. Check out the website for more specifics and some FAQs, and please Save the Date(s)! We also know the entrance fee is a hot topic! We’re intentionally choosing to lift the entry fee to ensure this event is accessible to all members of our community, and focusing on the flagship fundraising events our Fundraising Chair outlined recently. If you’re willing and able to offer a ‘treat’ for all our Spookarama tricks, we welcome your donations. Finally, we really do need many helping hands to make this event happen. ​​Right now, we are seeking leads for Security/ Guest Support, Middle School Planning, Haunted House (which can’t happen without a lead!), and Event Volunteer Coordination. After-School Enrichments *REMINDER*

BCS is lucky enough to have a parent volunteer that coordinates over 20 after-schoool programs on our campus. There is still have availability for the fall session. French, Chinese, Magic, Potions & Herbology, Chess, Band, Guitar, Basketball and Lego Robotics all still have spots. Check out our After-School Enrichments website to learn more about the programs and how to enroll.

Seeking Staff Appreciation Lead *NEW*

We are seeking a lead for Staff Appreciation activities this year. Are you creative and organized? Do you have a couple of hours a month to take the lead on a Conference Night potluck, Stock the Staff Room treat weeks, and Teacher/Staff appreciation week in May? We already have a plan for the year and need someone to execute the details with a team of other volunteer. Email edsupport@beverlyclearyschool.org if interested.

PTA Clothing Center Volunteer Opportunity: Monday 9/30, 9:30 am to 1:30 pm *REMINDER*

Each PPS school PTA is responsible for sending volunteers two times during the school year to assist students in receiving clothing and shoes. Beverly Cleary's day is coming up and we need 5-6 volunteers to help kids receive clothing and to help sort donations. Volunteers can be parents, grandparents or community members. The PTA Clothing Center is a district wide service that provides a space for PPS families to shop for their students. This past school year, the clothing center assisted nearly 1,400 PPS Students and logged over 2,800 volunteer hours. Email bridgetmschum@gmail.com to volunteer.

Steeplejack Brewing Co. Fundraising Night: Tuesday, October 29, 3pm to 10pm *SAVE THE DATE*

Please join us for a BCS community dine-out night at Steeplejack Brewing Co. on Tuesday, October 29th between 3pm and 10pm. Steeplejack will donate 10% of all food and 15% of Steeplejack beer (including canned beer) sales to BCS PTA. This includes all food (dine-in only) and beer (dine-in and take-out).

Spookarama Toy Drive! *REMINDER*

In an effort to keep plastic waste at a minimum, we are collecting your small toys -- leftover party favors, stickers and tattoos, gumball machine trinkets, etc. -- to give them a second life as Spookarama game prizes! Please keep donations small, under 2 square inches. Donation box is in the office!

BCS Bike Bus Every Wednesday *REMINDER*

Beverly Cleary School is has a bike bus! Beverly Cleary School students (and their adults) are invited to “get on the bus” and enjoy an active, social way of getting to school every Wednesday. See the link below for meet-up times and locations. Participants can also join the Bike Bus from any location along the route.
